5.15 Rubbers and elastomers. Rubbers and elastomers for such applications as gaskets, seals and 0-rings shall be resistant to ozone and weathering, moisture-proof, funginert, and noncorrosive. Blended or reused elastomers shall not be used. Rubber shall be in accordance with MIL-R-3065 or MIL-R-6855 where applicable. Where the mechanical properties are adequate, silicone rubber shall be preferred. Heat shrinkable elastomers may be used where applicable.
